Our Home | Boys’ Beachy Bathroom

One of the things I love most about our house is the bedroom layout. It really works perfectly for our family, as when you go upstairs, to the left down the hallway is Farrah’s room with her own private bathroom (such a lucky girl), right in the middle of the hallway in front of the stairway is our master bedroom and around the corner to the right down the hallway are the boys’ rooms with their Jack and Jill style bathroom. I always joke that Farrah has the left wing of the house and the boys have the right – we’re so fancy (not). Even though they share the bathroom, they both have their own private vanities, so when they get to the stage of needing “privacy”, or at least actually realizing they should care about it, they’ll be able to get it. For their bathroom, I played off the theme that I have always loved to use for their rooms – a beachy, surfer, California vibe. (You can take the girl out of California, but you can’t take the California out of the girl.) There are a couple things I have changed (i.e., added navy and white stripe towels with their names sewn on), but overall it’s the same. I would like to add a shelf or something above the toilet, but not in any huge rush. Here is how it turned out:

Most of the items I have owned a long while. The boat art is my artwork and the two coordinating pieces of wall art were from Target a long time ago that I used in both boys’ rooms at some point. The navy and white striped curtain is also from Target. I sometimes think about removing that towel bar across from the shower and adding a wooden plank with hooks along the wall so they can easily hang up their wet towels after stepping out of the shower.

That’s about it. I am just glad I don’t have to share a bathroom with them. It has been a headache reminding them to keep their clothes and towels off the floor…and what is it with boys and the toilet seat? Oy vey. Do you use a beachy theme anywhere in your home?
