I recently took my daughter to NYC to celebrate her 10th birthday! (Her brothers have both already had their turn.) We had almost four full days so I wanted to share what our itinerary looked like so we could pack as much in as possible in those few days!
Day 1 | The Edge, Hudson Yards, The High Line, Broadway Show
We got a flight that got us in about 8:15am, so we were at the hotel by around 9:30am to drop our bags off while we waited for our room to be ready. Off we went! We stayed in Times Square at the Marriott Marquis, which is located at Broadway and 45th, relatively easy access to everything.
From there, we opted to walk over to 9th and down 11 blocks to Hudson Yards rather than take the subway so that Farrah could start to get a feel for the City. We were in Hell’s Kitchen most of the walk. Hudson Yards is a high-end shopping center with a platform viewpoint that juts out from the side of the building called The Edge. It offers great views and I highly recommend. The wait was not long either, you just book your queue time on your phone and show up at your designated time. There’s even a part where the floor is clear so you can see directly underneath you!
After that we went down and explored the shops a bit – and of course – a stop at Dylan’s Candy Bar (the original one on the Upper East Side is no longer).
Also very cool and set to reopen later this year is The Vessel. I have yet to be on it, it has been closed since 2021 due to tragic circumstances.
After Hudson Yards, our original plan was to walk the High Line down to 14th St where it ends, however we found a large part of it was closed off for repairs/renovations, so unfortunately for this trip we had to nix that plan. I do recommend it though when you go!
We ventured around some more, got some brunch at Friedman’s nearby, and took our first subway ride together, then we headed back to our hotel area to explore a little of Times Square (Farrah was all about hitting up Sephora – kids these days!)
After that, we went to get our room at our hotel, relax a little bit and get ready for our Broadway evening. We had tickets to &Juliet. It was AWESOME – highly recommend! I had made reservations a month or so prior for the Broadway Lounge which conveniently enough was right in our hotel. It offered views of Times Square and was an easy walk to the show venue from there.
The show ended around 10:30pm and we were exhausted from having been up since 3am to get to the airport and all the running around in NYC, so we had no problem heading straight to the hotel and passing out.
That was Day 1! I will be posting Day 2, 3, and 4 soon!
