Y’all, I am so sorry it has taken me so long to continue this series recap of my daughter’s and my NYC trip back in late April! I definitely wanted to share more itinerary ideas and tips if you are looking to spend a fun, NYC weekend with your tween or teen! If you missed it, you can go view Part I here.
Lke Day 1, Day 2 was action-packed. We were constantly on the go. I had prepped Farrah beforehand that in order to see everything I’d planned, she would need to be a good sport about all the walking and subwaying! We started out the day by taking the subway to Greenwich Village and walking over to the Friends apartment building. Farrah has gained a love of Friends thanks to my obsession with re-runs. Along the way we took some pictures of cute brownstones.
After that, we made our way to 9/11. 9/11 is the reason I started bringing them all here in the first place. When my oldest was 10, he became very interested in historical events and 9/11 was one he asked me a lot about (since I was alive when it happened) and that’s when I decided to make a tradition of taking them all there around age 10 for their birthdays to have a memorable weekend and also to see 9/11 so they could really begin to understand the magnitude of that day.
After that, we made our way to the Staten Island Ferry to get great views of the city line and the Statue of Liberty.
After a quick ride there and back, we strolled through Wall St and stopped for brunch at Westville-Wall St. Such beautiful architecture in that area. New York City has a lot of beautiful buildings.
After that we made it up to Central Park. We saw Bloomingdales as we got off the subway, and then of course the famous Plaza Hotel, and then we ended up spending some time at the Central Park Zoo.
Farrah, poor thing was tired by this point, so we stopped at the hotel to rest and then change for the evening. We went to the Empire State Bldg after we were all rested up. I had made sunset time reservations for the best pictures.
Finally, after a very long day, we found a place nearby to eat dinner. I loved the name because it is my grandma’s maiden name. I made sure to send a picture to my mom!
Stay tuned for Day 3 and Day 4! (I will not wait as long between posts!)
