Our Home | New Screened Porch

Y’all, I can’t even begin to describe how elated I am to finally have a screened porch again! My husband is my hero. Not only is it much bigger than our last house’s, but it is so gorgeous and very much lends itself to my bohemian style (eye the ceiling!) It just makes me want to do yoga out there or something – #amiright? It was definitely a labor of love on my husband’s part. He wanted to build me my happy place and he put so much hard work and effort in over the last few months. The only parts we contracted out were the electrical/wiring so that we could have an outlet on the wall across from the house too and of course for the lighting and ceiling fan, the engineered cement slab, as well as the slab on the outside of the porch we had added to create an outdoor patio space that we didn’t have before, and the main framing. My husband did all the roofing, and finish/trim work, and A LOT of painting!

As far as the decor, I of course wanted to keep with my Bohemian style, but I knew I wanted it colorful, yet elegant. And of course it’s the place to showcase my many vintage Bohemian style chairs. Those peacock chairs I scored for FREE back in 2013. And those wicker couches not long after that for a whopping $90 total (including a table that has since fallen apart and been tossed). All I had to do a few years back was buy new cushions after the original ones had lived their last good years with us (which were NOT cheap, but considering the deal on the couches, it was fine.) Aside of the chairs, I picked out a new rug that I based all the color off of. I spray painted the little metal tables to pull the teal from the rug (previously black), and got pillows of various colors and patterns to give it an eclectic, yet homey feel. I would love to know what you think!

I could spend every evening out there! This is definitely my relaxation space…I love to sit out here with a good Pandora playlist and just hang out. It’s also great for wine nights with friends.
